The land, adjacent to Eaglescliffe Train Station and one mile from the A66, was purchased by the Council in 2021 and following a competitive tender process, privately owned commercial real estate development company Rula Developments was selected to deliver an industrial and logistics led scheme.

Initially Rula will work in partnership with the Council spending £3 million IGF grant money on infrastructure improvements to unlock the land for development. Thereafter Rula will develop plots in line with occupier demand.

Rula Developments Managing Director Ben Ward said: “Our plans for Durham Lane Industrial Park include the delivery of important new infrastructure and industrial/warehouse units with high ESG credentials in line with occupier demand.

“We hope to submit a planning application later this year for consideration and it is our ambition to commence site preparation and enabling works as soon as this process is complete.”

Rula has successfully delivered 1.4 million ft2 of logistics and industrial space across 168 acres of land and has 2.5 million ft2 of development either contracted or under development.
