THE PRIVATE company, paid just under £3 million for the 53,975 ft2 facility through property consultancy Legat Owen.
The decision to take on facility comes just two months after The Online Home Shop moved into its £5 million 70,000 ft2 bespoke HQ and warehouse facility on the Wardley Industrial Estate in Worsley. The expansion demonstrates the company’s strategic intent to support future growth in the Manchester region. The space will generate up to 100 new jobs for the area.
Featured in the Sunday Times’ Top 100 list of fastest growing private companies, The Online Home Shop was founded in 2014 and did extremely well during the pandemic with year-on-year growth at one stage topping 300%.
The new property on Bankfield Road, comprises a detached unit fronting with two access points into a car parking area to the front and to a yard and service area to one end. The building has been occupied by Thyssen Group for the last 15 years and was due to be refurbished by landlord, Urus Property.
Legat Owen successfully agreed a dilapidation settlement with Thyssen Group, however, upon undertaking a targeting marketing campaign, Online Home Shop was identified as a potential buyer for the unit in its existing condition. The deal was concluded within 20 working days.
