Amazon on warehouse lease spree
Amazon is thought to be behind the leasing either directly or indirectly of 5.75 million ft2 plus of warehouse space in the UK it the last six months and is tipped to be in discussion for at least a further 750,000 ft2

THE spree comes with reports of two Amazon related transactions including Green Street News’ report that ID Logistics is close to securing Ares Management and Sunrise Real Estate’s 673,000 ft2 warehouse in Rugby for a contract with Amazon and CoStar’s revelation that Amazon is the ecommerce retailer behind the lease of Mirastar and KKR Real Estate’s 250,000 ft2 warehouse known as BULK250, on Weston Avenue, West Thurrock – the largest logistics letting on the M25 in almost five years.
These deals, plus other transactions and deals subject to planning, as well as third party contracts, mean that Amazon has taken in the region of circa. 5.75 million ft2 in the last six months according to research by Logistics Matters.
The acquisitive e-commerce conglomerate his also thought to be behind at least a further circa.750,000 ft2 of space.
