The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Bleckmann has taken over the UK logistics contract for Superdry as of July 1 2024 from GXO. The contract is run from a 542,000 ft2 warehouse in Burton on Trent.

Bleckman chief operations office for Belgium and the UK Reinardt van Oel said: “The UK is an important growth market for Bleckmann. Over the last four years we have grown from serving five clients in just one warehouse to managing the operations for 60 brands across seven logistic centres.”

The latest facility, developer GLP's MPC 3 unit, reached practical completion in November 2023 and consists 541,898 ft2 of warehouse space as well as three storey Grade A offices totalling 30,314 ft2. It has transport offices of 15,234 ft2 and has achieved a BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A+ rating.

With an eaves height of 18m, it has 64 dock and eight level access doors with parking for 110 HGVs and 471 cars. The facility benefits from LED lighting, 15% roof lights, rainwater harvesting, and has been built to net zero carbon in construction and fitted out with recycled and recyclable materials including carpet tiles, organic paints, office partitions, ceiling tiles, responsibly sourced timber, marmoleum floor coverings, recycled aggregates, in addition, regional provenance vegetation in the landscaping as standard.

The property is located within the 3 million ft2 plus Magna Park Corby scheme which includes the adjacent 120 acre Cowthick Plantation woodland that will include 6km of walking and nature trails which will be open to the public.

In May, Logistics Matters reported that Nike had announced that it agreed a 1.3 million ft2 build-to-suit at Magna Park Corby for its new Logistics UK Campus.

Bleckmann has a total operational capacity of more than 2.8 million ft2 in the UK which also includes 550,000 ft2 at GLP’s Magna Park Lutterworth, a 340,000 ft2  facility in Bury St Edmunds, and 150,000 ft2 in Swindon.
