THE PROMOTER is pushing forward the 97.63 acre plot at Fenstanton close to Junction 26 of the A1307 (the old A14) prior to submitting a planning application.
THE PROPOSAL envisages up to 1.076 million ft2 of industrial, logistics and storage space which will provide multiple socio-economic benefits to the existing communities as well as providing employment during the construction and operational phases of the scheme.
The site is located within proximity of the A14 and Junction 26 of the A1307, both of which are designated freight routes. The development of the site seeks to maximise its location for employment and economic potential which although will result in an increase in operational transport movements, these will be directed to major strategic routes designed to serve additional traffic.
Markham & George successfully secured an strategic employment allocation in the emerging Huntingdon Local Plan to 2046 or the site. It is one of many sites in the region which are deemed suitable for strategic employment following the national Highways £1.5 billion A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon A14 upgrade project which completed in 2022.
Several of these sites are now progressing through planning including Tritax Big Box’s 2.25 million ft2 Tritax Park Cambridge scheme at the Bar Hill junction in South Cambridgeshire along with Lolworth Developments 2.475 million ft2 scheme which sits adjacent as well as Newlands Developments 2.2 million ft2 scheme at Hinchingbrooke not far from Fenstanton and its 1.6 million Newlands Park Cambridge just north of the Cambridge Service Station.
