Fast rise to project manager

SEC Storage is delighted to announce Alex-Mae Underwood was a finalist in the ‘Young Employee of the Year’ category at this year’s prestigious UKWA awards which took place in London on 27th June.

Alex-Mae said: “I am very honoured to be a finalist for this prestigious award. Since starting my logistics career with SEC Storage in 2016, I have received fantastic support from all levels of the business. Now is such an exciting time for young people to establish a solid career path and really make a difference in logistics, especially as this sector is only set to grow in coming years.”

Alex-Mae joined SEC Storage in 2016 aged 20 and initially worked in Customer Sales Support. From the very first day she showed a strong sense of aptitude and initiative, and her exceptional skills in organisation, project-management and customer-service quickly became apparent.

In just 3 years Alex-Mae has been promoted to Project Manager, responsible for managing nearly all small to medium sized projects within the storage division of the business, as well as regularly conducting design checks, site surveys, and project meetings with clients and suppliers, with whom she has an outstanding rapport and is able to work closely with their teams to ensure the smooth running of each project.

Department manager Adrian Wilcox commented, “Alex-Mae continues to demonstrate exceptional project management and customer service capabilities in all areas of her role as Project Manager, and has a clear passion and aptitude for logistics. We firmly believe she will be a driving force in the future of this dynamic sector and an inspirational figure for women in logistics.”

SEC Storage’s commercial director Harry Watts added: “SEC prides itself on attracting and developing young talent into the logistics industry and is particularly proud of the number of extremely high potential young professionals we have within our organisation. Even in this company, Alex-Mae stands out, not only because of her remarkable natural talent in Project Management but also because she consistently demonstrates a dedication to support her colleagues and SEC Storage’s clients that sees her go above and beyond time and time again.”
