Food manufacturer and distributor lands Oldham DC

Food producer Inspired Global Cusine (IGC) is to take investor ERGO’s Oldham 369 warehouse in Chadderton, Oldham, as its brand new manufacturing and distribution centre.

THE COMPANY which produces frozen ready meals, soups, and sauces for a number of operators including Iceland Foods, is taking the 369,251 ft2 facility following a successful application to extend the permitted use of the building to include research and development and carry out ‘industrial process which can be carried out in any residential area without detriment to amenity’ on the site. 

The building which boasts 359,054 of warehouse space also includes 10,197 ft2 of Grade A two storey offices. It has 15m eaves, 28 dock and four level access doors as well as four double height dock levellers. It has two yards of 55m and 35m and has parking for 57 HGVs and 324 cars. It has a BREEAM Very Good and EPC A rating

The business will facilitate in the region of 550 jobs, almost all of which will be full time.  It is anticipated approximately 300 of these will be staff moving from their existing premises, but with approximately 200 new roles created initially which will be primarily filled by local residents.

The property which was built speculatively by Rula Developments was one of four schemes totalling some 1 million ft2, acquired by Ergo Real Estate, on behalf of Aver Property (its JV with NFU Mutual) in 2022.
