Former Morrisons picker becomes team manager without a degree
Danielle Causebrook has progressed from warehouse picker to team manager at Morrisons’ Swan Valley site in Northampton, despite joining the retailer with no formal qualifications.

CAUSEBROOK JOINED Morrisons during the Covid-19 pandemic as a key logistics operative, mainly picking stock for stores. She then trained in other warehouse functions, gaining experience of checking deliveries and unloading goods.
A manager who recognised her potential encouraged her to apply for Morrisons’ Pathway Programme. She failed to pass the first stage of the interview process, but the programme was later relaunched as the Sir Ken Morrison Leadership School and she was selected for the cohort at her second attempt.
Supported by mentors and senior leaders on the course, she passed her final assessment and was offered the team manager role. Having chosen not to go to university, she also attended a graduation ceremony at Bradford University with the rest of the leadership school.
“Believe in yourself and be willing to step outside your comfort zone. Sometimes it takes someone else to see your potential before you see it yourself,” she said.
Morrisons is a sponsor of industry careers campaign Generation Logistics. Bethany Windsor, programme director at Generation Logistics, said: “Danielle is the epitome of how you don’t need to go to university or have formal qualifications to build a successful career in logistics.”
