Games retailer secures green warehouse

Independent games retailer Wayland Games has pre-let a 50,000 ft2 headquarters and distribution centre at Goodman’s London Brentwood Commercial Park which will help in to lower its carbon footprint.

THE PROPERTY, which is set to be complete in 2025, will be built to target BREEAM ‘Excellent’ an EPC A+ rating.

Wayland Games Managing Director Richard Lawford said: “The purpose-built space will allow us to drive greater operational efficiencies while catering for future business growth, in addition as part of our commitment to sustainability, it will also help us lower our energy use and continue to support us in reducing our carbon footprint.”

Other features include solar PV to help contribute to the building's power needs, innovative SolarWall® technology for heating office areas, and rainwater harvesting. 

The facility will allow Wayland Games to meet growing customer demand and enhance operational efficiency. The increased warehouse capacity will allow the retailer to stock more products, streamline its operations and use the latest technology to optimise inventory management, order fulfilment, and e-commerce logistics.

As part of th build there will be a sizeable mezzanine to provide office space and a dedicated production area, including a new creative studio for the company’s own brand Warcradle Games. The building will also feature a communal space for the local gaming community to meet and play their favourite games.
