THE REGIONAL Development Centre was built by Lidl itself in 2005 following what was then a record land acquisition of 12.54 acres at £1.05 million per net developable acre in 2004.
The property is now some 20-years old and no longer fit for purpose and Lidl is looking to consolidate operations within other warehouses.
Last year Lidl closed its Walsall site and is now proposing to demolish and redevelop it with a single modern sustainable regional distribution centre of some 420,000 ft2 with the addition of a new store on the site.
The 350 workers affected by the closure of the Enfield RDC are being given the option of securing redeployment in other RDCs in the region.
At present Lidl has not indicated what it will be doing with the Enfield site.
