ALREADY PROVEN in a live customer environment, the system has processed more than 1.75 million parcels. It targets one of the most labour-intensive stages of hub operations: turning unpredictable bulk parcel streams into a continuous flow ready for automated sortation.

Beumer robotpick uses the company’s own computer vision, robot control and adaptive vacuum gripping technology to pick cardboard boxes, carton bags, polybags and letters, adapting its picking strategy to different parcel sizes, shapes and packaging. Each robot cell can handle up to 1,600 parcels an hour.

The modular system can be configured with one to four robot cells on a single bulk feeding line as standard, with further cells added as volumes grow. Each cell runs independently, so maintenance or software updates can be carried out without stopping the others. Non-pickable items are recirculated or handled automatically, reducing the need for manual intervention.

The system integrates with Beumer’s wider parcel automation portfolio, with operational monitoring through Beumer SCADA and data-driven maintenance insights via BG Insight.

Beumer notes that the 99.9% figure is based on customer trials under representative operating conditions, and that performance depends on parcel mix, flow consistency and operational configuration.
