IAN CO-FOUNDED leading legal advisory practice Backhouse Jones in 2000, focusing on advising operators within the haulage sector, and as part of his role at PKF Littlejohn Advisory he will be responsible for developing and building relationships with key organisations within the sector, utilising his 30 years’ experience across the industry.

Throughout his career Ian has been a trusted authority in the commercial road transport sector, advising the industry through his senior appointments, including Vice-Chair of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, Council Member and Chair of the Suppliers Committee at the Confederation of Passenger Transport, and member of the All-Party Parliamentary Road Passenger Transport Group.

Ian began his career as a solicitor and has provided strategic counsel throughout his career. Latterly his focus has been on net zero and decarbonisation – both key themes for operators within the haulage industry.

Ian Jones, consultant at PKF Littlejohn Advisory, said: “Those operating in the haulage sector are facing a multitude of challenges in both the long and short term. It is imperative that companies focus on the here and now. As part of my role, I’ll be meeting with key industry stakeholders to better understand their concerns and to help them prepare for the next 12 months and beyond. I’m excited to get started, meeting companies across the country and helping clients reduce friction, assist with growth, and capture value.”

Paul Williams, partner and national head at PKF Littlejohn Advisory, believes Ian’s experience will prove invaluable as the firm continues to enhance its presence in key sectors including haulage, adding: “Ian brings a wealth of experience in operational and financial recovery, having immersed himself in the haulage and logistics industry. Throughout his career, he has developed a deep understanding of the issues impacting the transport sector. His appointment not only further enhances our team but continues to demonstrate our commitment in delivering solutions and services across a whole range of sectors and industries across the UK.”

Paul Smith, partner at PKF Littlejohn Advisory said: “Over the past six months we’ve expanded our Manchester team, both in terms of numbers but also in experience and service offerings. The addition of Ian will ensure that we are able to focus efforts on helping firms within the transportation industry navigate its specific sector challenges. We’re looking forward to further building our Manchester presence over the coming months.”
