THE DEVELOPMENT was granted planning on appeal as Chelmsford Council failed to determine the proposal within allotted timescales.
Ther has been concern over flooding and highways issues but these wer found to be satisfactory.
The approved development, known as Columba Park, is expected to create approximately 1,350 jobs once operational, generating an estimated £46.7 million in gross value added (GVA) annually for the regional economy.
The 62-acre site is allocated for employment use in Chelmsford City Council’s emerging Local Plan and occupies a strategically important position on one of the East of England’s key transport corridors.
Pigeon development director Hugh French, said: “This is a significant scheme for Chelmsford and the wider region, and one that will deliver long-term economic growth along a key strategic route in the East of England.
“While the consent has been secured at appeal, Columba Park aligns squarely with Chelmsford City Council’s emerging Local Plan ambitions. We look forward to working constructively with the Council and other stakeholders as the scheme progresses.”
The indicative masterplan for the site envisions eight units built to achieve BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A rating.
