Plans for new warehouse facility at Manchester Airport

Plans have been submitted for a 92,000 ft2 warehouse at Manchester Airport’s World Freight Terminal on the site of the existing Hangar 4.

A FULL planning application for the demolition of the existing Hangar 4 unit and its redevelopment  to provide a warehousing space with ancillary office space, landscaping, car parking, servicing and access arrangements has been submitted to Manchester City Council on behalf of owners Columbia Threadneedle Investment.

The investor acquired a significant portion of the commercial space of around the airport following a sell-off of assets by Manchester Airports Group in August 2020.

The 4.89 acre plot will see the development of the 92,000 ft2 warehosue which will have 12.5m eaves as well astwo dock and 11 level access doors, 95 car parking spaces (including 5 accessible spaces, 19 EV and 5 car share) and 9 cycle parking spaces. 

The scheme has been designed by RPS architects, with Avison Young acting as planning consultant on the application.
