Rolls-Royce is investing £300 million in its UK manufacturing and engineering sites, adding aftermarket support capacity at Derby and doubling turbine blade output at Rotherham, with knock-on effects for the supply chain, freight and warehousing that serve them.

THE INVESTMENT is led by more than £140 million at Derby, home of Rolls-Royce’s Civil Aerospace operations and the final step in the global supply chain for its Trent engines. New engineering and manufacturing services facilities will be accompanied by extra aftermarket support capacity and improved operational efficiency, with the work due to finish in 2028.

At Bristol, more than £90 million will go on a facility upgrade programme that includes increased maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capability, completing in 2031. At Inchinnan, Glasgow, £43 million is funding machinery for new engine components, while £5 million will upgrade machinery at Ansty, Warwickshire.

At Rotherham, £19 million at the Advanced Blade Casting Facility, supported by a further £2 million from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, will double output of advanced turbine blades by 2030.

Rolls-Royce says the programme gives multi-year stability to the hundreds of engineering partners, component manufacturers and small and medium-sized businesses that supply it. It spent more than £2.8 billion with UK-based suppliers in 2025, most of it with businesses outside London and the South East.

For logistics operators, higher blade output, expanded component manufacturing and greater aftermarket capacity are likely to mean more parts, spares and engines moving between suppliers, factories and customers over the coming years.

“This £300 million investment is a clear statement of our intent,” said Tufan Erginbilgic, chief executive of Rolls-Royce. “World-class facilities across the UK will ensure that Rolls-Royce remains a global leader in both commercial aviation and sovereign defence.”

Rolls-Royce has invested more than £3 billion in the UK since its transformation programme began in 2023.
