WHILE THERE has been no comment on exactly who that end user is CoStar on its property news portal has indicated that motoring and bicycle retailer Halfords is the proposed tenant which ties in with an earlier news story this year from GreenStreetNews indicating that Halfords was searching for a 700,000 ft2 plus distribution facility in the region through Colliers in January.
The proposed cross dock facility which totals 779,985 ft2 (GIA), will be built on Plot 1A. It is described as a purpose-designed storage and distribution facility, together with ancillary office accommodation, servicing and loading facilities, car and cycle parking, associated infrastructure and landscaping. It will have 21m eaves as well as 86 dock and 11 level access doors served by two yards with parking for 153 HGVs. There will be two transport hubs as well as two-storey Grade A offices. The property will be built to target BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A rating.
Outline permission was granted by Warwick Council for 1.95 million ft2 of industrial and logistics development across the southern plots of the 215-acre Coventry Gateway scheme in March this year.
Joint agents are DTRE, Savills, and Apex. Logistics Matters has so far been unable to confirm the tenant of the proposed build-to-suit facility.
