UKWA to launch Solar Toolkit at IMHX
The Solar Toolkit for warehouse owners and occupiers will provide clear guidance on how to install rooftop solar on warehouses.

THE DEVELOPMENT comes hot on the heels of the UK Government’s new Solar Roadmap policy paper, which was launched on June 30.
The paper explicitly highlights the UKWA’s crucial role in advancing rooftop solar adoption across the warehousing sector.
UKWA chief executive Clare Bottle, who recently urged the government to get the Solar Roadmap “back on track”, expressed her delight at the announcement, which she believes marks a turning point for warehouse operators and landlords, eager to embrace rooftop solar power.
She noted that the measures outlined in the Roadmap promise to address longstanding barriers to solar deployment, accelerating the UK’s transition to clean, affordable and reliable renewable energy.
“We have been engaging with HM Government on the potential of warehouse rooftops for solar power since 2022, when UKWA commissioned a landmark report exploring the benefits and barriers,” Clare said.
“Through 2023 and into 2024 we then played an active role on the Solar Taskforce. Although publication of the Roadmap was delayed, it is hugely encouraging to see the government listening to our sector and giving UKWA a formal role in supporting the adoption of rooftop solar”.
She continued: “With the support of a dozen generous sponsors, we have invested significantly in creating a comprehensive new Solar Toolkit, which will be officially launched at IMHX in September. As referenced in today’s Solar Roadmap, the Toolkit will cover key topics including system design, legal considerations, grid connections, financing options and insurance requirements”.
The Solar Roadmap, launched today, sets out coordinated government and industry actions to dramatically scale up solar deployment across the UK.
Developed in collaboration with stakeholders, it provides a detailed strategy to achieve the substantial increase in solar capacity needed to meet the government’s Clean Power Action Plan targets for 2030.
