Aldi’s Chelmsford depot opts for lithium powered trucks

GOING GREEN is a key target in the strategy of Aldi and the next obvious step for their Chelmsford distribution centre was to change from IC trucks to Lithium-Ion forklifts from Armill Lift Trucks.

Armill Lift Trucks shared their success with Aldi UK in Chelmsford. Replacing old diesel trucks with EP lithium-ion machines to meet changing company goals to become more eco-friendly and cost efficient, allowing Aldi to pass these benefits and savings onto their customers.

With multiple brands operating on one site Armill supplied ten EP EFL 252 lithium-ion electric yard forklifts working in the yard having been carefully selected to meet the demanding 24/7 operation schedule.

With external charging ports and special modifications, the trucks have fitted in seamlessly to the demanding operations. With lengthy lead times and slow communication from other brands, the Aldi team were enthusiastic about the fast delivery and support from Armill.

Another major factor in the decision from Aldi was service, having been let down by current suppliers, Armill demonstrated a can-do attitude not only in supplying and supporting the new machines but carrying out repairs and services to existing equipment with a timely and professional approach.

The team was pleased with the benefits of opportunity charging and overall durability of the trucks in comparison to their old fleet. With cost reductions of 50% calculated for the next 5 years the trucks have met every goal set by the team.

Armill Lift Trucks import the full EP range of lithium-ion forklifts from yard to warehouse not only to end user sites but to many of their trusted dealers.
