BAE Systems invests in heavy duty industrial curtains
Defence company BAE Systems has selected Union Industries for a bespoke industrial curtain at its submarine facility in Barrow.
Union was chosen by BAE Systems due to 'unrivalled technical engineering knowledge and bespoke fabric engineering solutions'.
A temporary Static Screen with high level infills has been installed at BAE Systems Submarines to prevent dust contamination interrupting its manufacturing processes during an extensive refurbishment programme in one of its manufacturing units.
Union’s large 85m wide x 22.5m high segregation screen required a specially designed mounting system, fixings and tensioning devices to suit the existing roof structure to withstand high internal pressure loadings.
The Static Screen is constructed from a superior grade heavyweight PVC coated Polyester and incorporates two emergency escape doors to ensure BAE Systems’ health and safety standards are maintained.
Andrew Lane, Managing Director at Union Industries said: “Working with such a prestigious British company has been an excellent experience and also speaks volumes for the quality of our market leading Industrial Curtains.
“Our bespoke curtain has been made to a very unique specification that meets BAE Systems’ needs – we recognise that there isn’t a one size fits all approach and we specialise in creating bespoke Fabric Solutions for businesses, no matter how big or small they are.It was great to get the opportunity to support BAE Systems’ investment and it is encouraging to see the company supporting smaller UK manufacturers.”
