Calculate chain stretch

Chain specialist, iwis drive systems, offers wear gauges for roller chains and leaf chains. The wear gauges allow measurement and calculation of chain stretch due to wear, in particular if the chain is situated in areas which are difficult to access.

Using a wear gauge is a simple method to easily determine what percentage the chain has stretched. It gives an immediate indication as to how far the chain has stretched.

By simply placing the datum end over a pin and taking a reading from the opposing end, the wear gauge will give an accurate reading, especially used in conjunction with iwis’ precision roller chain products. The gauge will indicate when the chain needs replacing as well as percentage of stretch and can even be used to calculate stretch from initial fitting if used on a poor quality chain.
