Chemicals firm boosts yard safety

Hexion has been successfully using a Thorworld mobile yardramp for over ten years at its site in Barry, South Wales.

Richard Sullivan, technical manager at Hexion, explains: “Due to the lack of a fixed installation, we have used a Thorworld mobile yardramp for over a decade. Its flexibility and cost effectiveness have made it a very effective solution.

“However, after a detailed review of our yard processes, we decided to invest in a fixed loading bay to help improve health and safety. Our mobile yardramp was extremely secure but we wanted to eliminate as many potential hazards as possible, such as removing the need to connect chains to vehicles and running the risk of ramp and vehicle detaching during loading,” adds Richard.

Hexion required an installation which fitted into its existing building and, as such, a bespoke solution was fitted into Hexion’s existing warehouse.

“The bay is an essential element of our warehouse operation and it means we can provide an effective, efficient service without compromising on yard safety. The quality of installation, service and performance remain of the highest standards, which we have come to expect from Thorworld,” concludes Richard.
