Combilift rolls out Covid testing for factory employees

Posted on Wednesday 3 February 2021

On January 18, the Irish specialist forklift manufacturer introduced serial Covid testing for all employees at its plant in Co Monaghan, Ireland.

The test takes a non intrusive saliva sample, with the sample sent to a lab for processing. Results are sent via SMS to employees within 24 hours. If positive, the company connects employees via phone and follows HSE protocols.

Combilift CEO Martin McVicar said: “In Week 1 we had five positive cases in 600+ people, with all of those five positive showing no symptoms. Week 2 we identified 2 people, and in Week 3 there were no cases. We plan to run the scheme until the end of February.”

Ireland has seen Covid cases fall in recent weeks after a Christmas surge.

Combilift was quick to roll out a range of Covid-secure measures in the wake of the initial pandemic outbreak.
