ELOKON: Award winning products for a safer workforce and a safer warehouse

Accidents involving forklift trucks are still all too common in the warehouse, but using smart technology such as that developed by ELOKON can greatly reduce the risks of injury to personnel and damage to equipment and the infrastructure.

ELOKON’s anti-collision ELOprotect product was recently recognised by the FLTA for its contribution to a safer environment when it won the Safety Category of the 2018 Awards for excellence.

ELOKON is a leading supplier of innovative RFID, radar and intelligent laser- based safety solutions and driver assistance systems for MHE.

It incorporates the latest sensor technology used in the automotive industry in its distance warning systems, mobile personnel protection devices and fleet management systems.

VNA operation poses particular risks that ELOKON has addressed with ELOprotect to prevent accidents between forklifts and personnel.

It is a self-actuating laser scanner anti-collision system which ensures that safe distances are maintained between pedestrians and forklifts as well as preventing collisions between the trucks themselves.

A further advantage is that this allows more than one vehicle to work in a VNA at the same time without compromising on speed, allowing productive handling whilst ensuring adherence to the strictest safety guidelines.

When a forklift enters a narrow aisle, ELOprotect is automatically activated and monitors the danger zone in its direction of travel when it is moving, and in both directions when it is stationary.

If a person or obstacle is detected when the truck is moving, its speed is automatically reduced to 2.5km/h, and the driver is sent a warning. If the person continues to approach, the truck is brought to a standstill and an alarm is activated.

ELOprotect is compatible with all makes of forklifts and can be easily retrofitted to your existing fleet. Around 6,000 systems have been installed worldwide for customers in, amongst others, the automotive, e-commerce and distribution sectors.
