Experts vote Pharmacy2U dispensing hub best in UK

Pharmacy2U has been crowned the overall best at the logistics and supply chain industry’s Oscars last night for their revolutionary pharmaceutical dispensing and warehouse system developed with Logistex.

The brand new dispensing hub won best ‘New Facility’ as well as ‘Overall Winner’ at The Logistics Awards, which recognises operational excellence and celebrates the very best companies within the logistics and supply chain sectors.

The creation of the UK’s first centralised pharmacy is a ground-breaking moment in the re-engineering of pharmacy medicine supply in the UK. Utilising technology that Pharmacy2U helped create, and meeting the Government’s pharmacy commitment to increase efficiency, Pharmacy2U and Logistex have built a facility capable of delivering high volume prescription orders direct to patients at a lower cost than the traditional high street model and ensuring the highest level of clinical accuracy.

The new facility dispensed a record 220,000 items last month, making it the most efficient singular dispensing hub in the UK. It is already enhancing efficiencies and capabilities both now and for future growth, increasing the capacity to 10 times that of the company’s previous system.

The new dispensing hub integrates a range of ground-breaking technologies, including automated twin headed dispensing robots (provided by BD Rowa), pick to light, conveyor and an automated packaging solution. Logistex Warehouse Management System LWS Reflex provides full operational management and movement control.

Gary Dannatt, Chief Operating Officer at Pharmacy2U, comments; “To win two accolades at such a prestigious awards programme reflects the hard work and innovation that our team have been striving to achieve. Pharmacy2U will continue to provide operational excellence and the most efficient service, and ultimately modernising patient access to their healthcare.”

Jerry Woodhouse, Managing Director at Logistex commented; “This award is a testament to the vision and innovation of Pharmacy2U to develop a world class automated repeat prescription dispensing facility. It also recognises the contribution made by Logistex in designing and delivering the engineered solution that is now underpinning Pharmacy2U’s phenomenal growth. It is truly a win-win for two companies that have proven capable of working in close cooperation with a common identity of interests.”
