Fuel cost savings
Metafin Group Holdings in Walsall, is reported to have made a fuel saving of over £13,500 after switching its materials handling fleet to Linde in January.
Metafin is one of Europe’s leading trade coater, specialising in Cathodic Electropaint and Powder Coating processes. It has used the same fleet of trucks for a number of years and when the current contract came to an end, Linde Creighton offered Metafin a trial run of a fleet of five Linde trucks.
Andrew Russell of Linde Creighton, initially predicted that Metafin would make a 25% fuel saving using the Linde fleet but the trial revealed a 40% saving.
Linde supplied Metafin with five H 20 and H 25 D model counterbalance trucks with capacities of 2 and 2.5t to trial against the existing fleet. These trucks were used for general warehouse operations including the loading and unloading of pallets onto trucks and feeding production lines.
The five Linde trucks feature hydrostatic transmission, with no clutch, no mechanical differential and no torque converter – enabling the trucks to operate at a lower rpm than conventional torque converter machines.
