Fuel efficiency boost for operator

Logistics manager drives down fuel costs as 3PL invests in new trucks.

Eight new Renault Trucks Range T 6×2 tractor units acquired by Bibby Distribution have returned a 10% increase in fuel efficiency in the first three months of operation on a contract with conservatory specialist Ultraframe.

Ultraframe’s logistics manager, Paul Greaves, says: “Fuel accounts for around 30 per cent of our total outgoing costs, so to reduce that figure with more efficient trucks is very welcome and a good illustration of how proactive Bibby Distribution are for us."

The Bibby Distribution vehicles, leased from Renault via BRS Truck Rental, replaced older DAF and MAN models and deliver products to Ultraframe’s customers via Bibby Distribution sites in Avonmouth, Biggleswade, Clitheroe and Glasgow.

Each Renault truck is powered by the latest generation Euro VI diesel engine and includes a tachograph machine, which automatically records driver hours to aid compliance.

Every vehicle is also fitted with Microlise telematics.
