Geek inks key partnership deal

Posted on Monday 21 March 2022

AMR PLAYER Geek+, and Bosch Rexroth, a global provider of drive and control technology, have signed a strategic channel agreement for North America.

The partnership has already borne fruit in the form of a unique version of Geek+’s MP1000R moving robot augmented with the laser localisation software ROKIT Locator by Bosch Rexroth.

These robots could automatically distribute materials to production line in Bosch Rexroth plant in Changzhou, China. The software ROKIT Locator works in parallel with Geek+’s simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM) technology and allows to offer AMRs perfectly suited to manufacturing scenarios.

In view of the vast market opportunities, Geek+ and Bosch Rexroth have agreed to facilitate resource sharing, deepen cooperation, and create more intelligent logistics solutions for their customers.

In the future, Geek+ will continue to implement its ecosystem-enabling strategy and work closely with partners to promote the overall intelligent transformation of supply chain operations around the world, empowering global customers to respond quickly to market demands and promote business growth.

AMRs improve speed to market

In addition, Supervers, a specialist in fruit, vegetables, and ready-made meals, has launch a fleet of 112 autonomous mobile robots in Hessing’s Greenport Venlo factory of the future. The goods moving solution is the largest of its kind in Europe and will boost the distribution centre’s efficiency, translating directly into less food waste and fresher produce for consumers.

Geek+’s M200 robots connect the discrete processing areas and manage the complex food processing workflow to move a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables through washing, mixing, and packaging stations. An intelligent AI control system features 3D obstacle sensors that detect any potential obstacles that may obstruct the robots’ path, while a fleet management system controls hundreds of robots at once to optimise moving efficiency and minimise traffic congestion.

In addition to gains in efficiency and productivity, Geek+’s moving robots operate independently on two levels of the three-storey distribution centre to ensure the highest standards of safety both for factory employees and the food products.

Hans Hessing, director of the centre of excellence at Hessing, says: “Hessing has always strived to use innovation to improve the end results for our customers. By automating our distribution centre with Geek+’s moving solutions, we’ve done just that and made a factory of the future. We now can get even more healthy, high-quality food products into supermarkets and onto people’s tables and do it more quickly than ever before.”

Jan Jongbloets, managing director Northern Europe at Geek+ Europe, adds: “The AMRs that we have deployed in Hessing’s distribution centre improve the speed and efficiency with which fruits and vegetables can be processed and distributed.”
