Greene King appoints Indigo for WMS project

Greene King has appointed Indigo to deliver a WMS project in distribution centres to support business growth.

The project will implement Indigo WMS with voice picking across the network of UK DCs.

The investment in Indigo WMS by Greene King is regarded as essential to enable larger volumes of product to be securely moved around the business and onto customers as efficiently as possible. The project to implement Indigo WMS will ensure better use of Greene King’s warehousing network and is expected to deliver a tangible return on investment across the supply chain.

Greene King operates around 3,100 pubs, employing 42,000 people. Following a strategic business process review involving a number of WMS vendors, Indigo WMS was selected by Greene King as the company’s preferred solution. As well as providing extensive warehouse management and traceability functionality, Indigo also offers voice directed picking, the ability to handle multiple warehouses and movement between sites, plus direct integration with Greene King’s existing ERP solution.

Greene King’s critical success factors will see key supply chain improvement objectives met including the reduction of wastage through better stock control, shelf life management and overall stock accuracy across the business.

Visibility and traceability will be greatly improved by Indigo WMS, as Tony Macken, Brewing and Distribution Director describes, “When Indigo WMS is fully implemented, it will facilitate smoother running of our warehouse, allowing us to improve our services to our customers.”

Peter McLane, Managing Director at Indigo Software states: “Indigo is delighted to be working with Greene King to streamline its warehouse processes. By improving efficiency, Greene King can achieve its growth plans whilst keeping costs under control, which is essential to maintaining profit forecasts and a benefit seen by many of our customers.”
