Inspection tagging

All lifting equipment, including forklifts, must be maintained regularly to ensure it is safe to work with. It is not enough to only fix equipment when they go wrong; companies should be looking for signs of wear and tear before any deterioration leads to an incident.

The LOLER regulation covers any equipment used at work for lifting or lowering loads, including attachments used for anchoring, fixing or supporting it. LOLER regulations require daily and weekly checks of equipment and a thorough examination which is to be recorded every 6 and 12 months and where the lifting equipment depends on the installation.

In order for companies to keep track of the maintenance status of lifting equipment, Scafftag, the equipment tagging specialists, offers the LOLER Tag inspection system – which permanently attaches to the equipment. Scafftag recommends that the LOLER Tag is placed as near to the operator cabin access point as possible, for maximum visual effect at the point of use.
