Intelligent camera recognises humans

Posted on Thursday 19 October 2023

LINDE MATERIAL Handling (UK) has unveiled a truck-mounted Reverse Assist Camera that uses AI-based technology to distinguish people from objects in real time.

By employing an algorithm that targets collisions involving people rather than objects, the ‘intelligent camera’ also prevents forklift drivers becoming desensitised to persistent warning signals.

Linde Material Handling (UK) safety sales manager Gavin Carslake, says: “If it detects a person within a defined angle around the camera, the system triggers a multi-level warning system via the optional 7-inch colour display together with an acoustic signal. It can also activate an automatic reduction in driving speed.”

“To reduce the number of such signals further, the alarm settings can be limited to when the truck is actually travelling in the direction of people nearby.”

The camera can be used on its own or combined with Linde MH’s extensive range of assistance and safety systems.
