LEDs bring energy efficiency

Integrated logistics service provider Partner Logistics has reported a 16% decrease in energy usage at its cold store warehouse in Gloucester six months after the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting at the facility.

The site, which operates at temperatures as low as -27 degrees and has a 72,500 pallet capacity, saw all the former 400W, 250W and 125W interior lighting replaced with over 125 high-specification luminaires to reduce total energy consumption as well as create a brighter, improved work environment.

State-of-the-art movement sensors were also installed, which have attributed to energy savings through operating at just 20% capacity in times of low activity, an ideal solution for the Gloucester site which predominantly stores seasonal products such as ice cream.

Ian Harvey, UK Technical Co-ordinator at Partner Logistics, said: “We’re very committed to sustainability and energy conservation in the supply chain and this lighting installation is another way in which we have used cutting edge innovation to drive down our carbon footprint.”
