Linde showcases apprentice success
At IMHX Linde Material Handling celebrated the success of its apprenticeship programme at IMHX’s first Future Skills zone.
The stand which featured a Renault F1 car, Linde electric go kart, an interactive learning demonstration and two of Linde’s forklift trucks, aimed to recruit new apprentices and showcase Linde’s successful programme. Renault F1 plays a key part in Linde’s apprenticeship programme, hosting its annual ‘Apprentice of the Year’ awards and offering a work placement at the blue chip company for the winner.
The company was invited to host an exhibition stand within IMHX’s first ever dedicated zone for apprentices, having previously promoted their apprenticeship scheme at the 2013 event at Birmingham’s NEC. Linde’s four year apprenticeship programme for over 16 year olds teaches a broad range of skills and theory needed to service Linde’s large product range of forklift trucks. It is also accredited by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and delivered through BITA and the FLTA.
Linde introduced the UK’s first certified apprenticeship scheme for the forklift truck industry in 2012, designed to help address the skills gap for qualified service engineers. As the market leader, Linde is dedicated in recruiting and training the best apprentices who will graduate to become factory trained engineers and continue to offer the first class level of service to our customers.
23 Apprentices receive individual mentors and access to an online progression tracker which provides support throughout the programme, allowing them to monitor their own development and to set themselves targets along the way.
