Lloyds British Testing acquires Swindon Lifting
National lifting equipment specialist Lloyds British Testing [LBT] has acquired Swindon Lifting Gear Limited, based on the Station Industrial Estate in Swindon, as part of its ongoing plans to continue its strategic expansion within the UK and overseas.
Swindon Lifting Gear, which specialises in the supply, inspection, testing and hire of lifting equipment, was founded 25 years ago by Gordon and Georgina Woodford, and currently employs a dedicated team of staff servicing key customers such as Honda and The National Trust.
The acquisition will mean the addition of a new LBT team in the South of England, headed up by Paul Storrar, which will include specialist project management and local engineers.
LBT’s regional director for the South of the UK, Ryan White, believes the acquisition reinforces Lloyds British’s dominance in the UK equipment lifting equipment sector, and expects the deal to lead to further business growth through improved regional coverage.
He said: “The new location is of prime importance and will allow us to give our customers greater support, while enabling our expansion across the M4 Corridor, particularly into Bristol, Oxford, Swindon and Reading.
“Overall, the acquisition is part of a continued drive for expansion in the UK, and we are all excited to join forces with such a successful business with 25 years of fantastic customer relationships.
“We intend to continue delivering a high standard of work, with the support of a larger resource, and provide more products, services and even better value for our customers.”
