More reliable vehicles

In order to meet the need for improved productivity, off-highway vehicles have moved away from discrete hydraulic controls to fully electronic operator controls, such as those offered by Curtiss-Wright’s brands of Arens Controls, Penny & Giles, PG Drives Technology and Williams Controls.

These controls offer huge improvements in vehicle reliability and maximise comfort for the operator, helping to increase the productivity of off-highway vehicles, reduce operator fatigue, improve safety and reduce manufacturing costs.

Rapid-design techniques, such as the use of computer modeling, have played a significant role in reducing the cost of design, with much less time and therefore money devoted to prototyping. With respect to manufacturing, reduced component counts due to improved technology and CANbus wiring systems, which further lessen the material used, have contributed to a cost-effective design as well as having a positive impact on reliability.

Curtiss-Wright’s latest innovation is the JC4000, a joystick controller that has been designed specifically for use in the diverse environments of the aerial work platform (AWP) market.
