Pedestrian awareness camera to boost safety
Yale pedestrian awareness camera is designed to support increased productivity and warehouse safety.

TO HELP warehouse facilities deliver a competitive non-stop service, Yale Lift Truck Technologies now offers a pedestrian detection camera that can be fitted to most Yale counterbalance lift trucks to enhance safety protocols and improve productivity.
This technology is available through the Special Products Engineering Department (SPED) and uses on-board sensors to raise awareness of pedestrian activity with operators to not only improve productivity but assist in reducing collisions and damage.
The rear-facing pedestrian detection camera activates when the truck is in reverse and warns operators when pedestrians are nearby. The system detects common pedestrian shapes up to 6 metres away, alerting the operator with both visual and audible alerts.
A yellow LED in the outer ring of the segmented alert display lights up when pedestrians are more than five metres away. This changes to a red LED on the outer ring when pedestrians are between three to five metres from the lift truck. The red LED then moves to the inner ring while an audible alert sounds should the system detect a pedestrian within three metres of the lift truck.
The system is specifically designed for pedestrian detection and will not alert on detection of objects. This is to reduce false positive alerts and promote driver confidence in the system’s efficacy and reliability.
The early warning system is well-suited to indoor warehouse operations, where even the most experienced operators can struggle with manoeuvring counterbalance trucks, particularly when space is at a premium.
