The Platform to Greener Energy
AJAX was approached to manufacture and install bespoke safe access platforms for a recycled waste distribution plant to assist daily manual handling operations. As part of the company’s new Greener Energy Policy, large discharge booths containing hazardous screw feeds move large volumes of recycled waste, which is deposited to fuel daily operations.
AJAX manufactured and installed four bespoke platforms to allow operatives safe access to the discharge booth and a safe working platform above the moving screw feeds. The bespoke platforms are pneumatically operated to extend and retract the platform in and out of the discharge booths with easy operation. While the screw feeds are not in use the platforms can be used for maintenance and cleaning of the machinery while protecting the operative from falling at height. Since the installation, the bespoke platforms have successfully prevented injuries during the distribution operations and have reduced the company’s overall use of non-renewable energy sources.
