E-Line Pro and LiveLink Premium combine high-quality illumination with intelligent lighting control across a 23,000 sq m logistics facility in Germany.

TRILUX has supplied an energy-efficient, intelligent lighting solution for OBO Bettermann’s new central warehouse in Menden, Germany. The 23,000 m² facility brings together automated logistics processes, sustainable energy generation and modern working conditions, with TRILUX’s E-Line Pro continuous-row lighting system and LiveLink Premium light management system at the centre of the lighting concept.

OBO Bettermann, an international manufacturer of installation and electrical infrastructure systems, developed the new warehouse to support efficient logistics operations while providing a high-quality working environment. The facility includes a small parts warehouse and a storage area for bulky goods, with a hall height of approximately 9.5 metres.

The building also reflects the company’s focus on energy sustainability, with a large proportion of its electricity generated by an on-site photovoltaic system.

High demands on lighting quality and efficiency

Digitalisation and automation are central to the new facility, with fully automated logistics processes placing considerable demands on the supporting infrastructure.

The lighting therefore needed to deliver high levels of efficiency and visual comfort, alongside intelligent control. The project also faced a demanding construction programme, with the entire building and its technical infrastructure scheduled for completion in less than a year.

E-Line Pro at the heart of the concept

TRILUX’s E-Line Pro continuous-row lighting system forms the basis of the installation, offering energy efficiency of up to 220 lm/W and precise light distribution.

Approximately four kilometres of continuous-row lighting, comprising 850 light points, have been installed throughout the building.

Different optical configurations were selected to meet the requirements of individual warehouse areas. In the high-bay spaces, lens optics support visibility at both near and far distances. In the small parts warehouse, where aisles are narrow and ceilings are lower, opal optics provide comfortable, low-glare illumination to support safe working.

Emergency lighting was also integrated into the continuous-row system, reducing the need for separate installations.

TRILUX additionally supplied lighting solutions for 1,200 m² of office space and outdoor areas.

Intelligent lighting control with LiveLink Premium

The LiveLink Premium light management system provides the intelligent control required for the facility.

All luminaires are connected through DALI and linked to daylight and presence sensors, allowing the lighting to respond to conditions and activity within the building.

The luminaires, sensors and push-buttons were commissioned and configured using the LiveLink ONE app. The lighting installation is also connected to the building management system through a KNX gateway, making it part of the wider smart building infrastructure.

This integrated approach supports efficient lighting operation while providing the flexibility needed in a modern, highly automated logistics environment.

Supporting efficient logistics operations

The completed lighting installation combines high-quality illumination, intelligent control and energy-efficient performance.

For employees, the scheme provides a comfortable and safe working environment across the different warehouse areas. For OBO Bettermann, it supports efficient operations, low operating and maintenance costs and the long-term requirements of the new logistics facility.

By combining E-Line Pro with LiveLink Premium, TRILUX has delivered a coordinated lighting solution that meets the demands of a modern, automated warehouse while contributing to the building’s wider energy and operational objectives.
