Twinplast provides enhanced fire protection with flame-retardant solutions
Twinplast, a leading manufacturer of bespoke corrugated polypropylene products, has developed a flame-retardant finish for its fluted sheets which provides enhanced fire protection for a wide range applications in transport, warehouse and industrial environments.

THE COMPANY applies the finish to a huge range of custom manufactured solutions, from packaging and protective flooring to pallet dividers and pick bins, with flame retardancy standards which are independently certified by Warringtonfire’s Certifire, a scheme that assures performance, quality, reliability and traceability of fire protection products. The treatment comprises halogen-free chemical additives which increase fire resistance without posing environmental or health risks.
Toby Garrett, managing director at Twinplast, said: “Businesses across a wide range of sectors are increasingly looking for solutions which reduce fire risk. To ensure reliable safety and compliance, it’s vital to check that a product’s flame retardancy standards are certified by an independent third party which has authorisation to test and certify. Warringtonfire is a UKAS-accredited body which is recognised by regulatory authorities worldwide. It’s an internationally respected mark of fire safety and one of the most authoritative in the industry, so customers can be 100% confident in the flame retardancy standards of our products.”
Tim Steer, commercial director at Twinplast, said: “Twinplast believe in enhancing fire protection without compromising environmental standards, in keeping with our wider environmental policies and objectives. That’s why we use a halogen-free finish which has a lower environmental and health impact compared to traditional flame-retardant finishes which contain halogens like chlorine or bromine and carry the risk of releasing toxic and corrosive gases.”
