Save time & improve efficiency

Several years ago, designer and manufacturer of a wide range of andon lights – beacons and sounders – WERMA, became involved in an application where an LED signal tower light set is deployed to signify a problem dealing with checking out purchases at unmanned cash desks in retail outlets.

People saw the system in the retail environment being used to call for supervisor assistance and recognised that it would be of benefit in other applications. The basis of the “call for action” system is extremely simple. Usually a two or three colour LED signal tower forms part of the check out “swipe” process.  When this process is interrupted – for example an alcohol purchase requires a supervisor to carry out an age check – the barcode of the product alerts supervision by activating the a red flashing light.

A manually operated andon light, which WERMA manufactures, consisting of a signal tower, four button switch box and “plug and play” desk top power supply provides a low cost easy to install solution to giving a visual alert when assistance id needed at a workstation.
