Hörmann to showcase products at IMHX

Industrial door and loading bay equipment manufacturer Hörmann will display a selection of its product range at the show.

This September will be the fifth time Hörmann has attended IMHX, considered the premier venue by the manufacturer for engaging with a large proportion of the warehouse and logistics market. However, much has changed since the 2013 show, with Hörmann’s product range and service offering developing and evolving significantly to suit the needs of this progressive industry.

Hörmann will be showcasing some of its most popular products that are renowned throughout the industry for their high quality, durability and efficiency. With the focus firmly placed on the warehouse and logistics sector, visitors to the stand will be able to discuss their requirements with Hörmann’s team of specialists who will provide detailed product and fitting information and give helpful demonstrations.

Warehouse managers today are under increasing pressure to improve the efficiency and productivity of their operations while minimising risks. Hörmann has responded to this and invested significant amounts in the latest technologies and production techniques to continually improve and enhance its products. The company also prides itself on working closely with its partners, employees and construction professionals to support their needs.

Hörmann’s high-speed sectional door is a prime example of this investment and will be on display at the show. These doors are popular across a variety of industries due to their ability to minimise heat loss and improve traffic flow and productivity. Featuring a PU-foamed door leaf that has a UD-value of 1.95 W/(m2K), the 42mm double-skinned steel door reaches an opening speed of up to 2.5 metres per second and a maximum closing speed of 0.5 metres per second. Hörmann’s safety light grille, with non-contact roll-up technology, also helps to eliminate collision or injury by recognising obstacles in the closing zone.

The latest addition to Hörmann’s reliable and economical rolling shutter range will also be available to view. The DD S6 rolling shutter has an innovative direct drive operator, which is directly connected to the barrel, offering more flexibility for a variety of different openings up to 12 metres wide and 9 metres high. With a side room requirement of just 80mm, this rolling shutter is ideal for tight spaces. The powerful FU operator can achieve faster and manually adjustable opening speeds of up to 1.1 meters per second, which can help boost productivity significantly.

Hörmann’s loading bay technology has also benefitted from technological advances with new, highly adaptable designs now available to suit the varying requirements of today’s warehouses.

There have been a number of subtle changes relating to the size of distribution centres, the method of distribution from central hubs to satellite warehouses, vehicle fleets and methods of loading vehicles on the loading bay. Hörmann’s current product range, however, covers most – if not all – eventualities.

Hörmann will be displaying its standard sectional overhead door and dock shelter to provide visitors with an idea of how these solutions could work within their projects. Also on the stand will be the intelligent DOBO docking system, which enables a truck to dock onto the loading bay before having to open its rear doors. This has a number of applications that suit the frozen or chilled environment and is also suitable for areas with security issues.

If a product isn’t readily available for a particular fitting situation, the Hörmann team is committed to engineering solutions. For instance, Hörmann has recently worked on a project at DP World London Gateway Port and Logistics Park where the world’s largest container ships can now dock in the UK. Cargo is off-loaded from the containers onto cassette trailers, which are then taken to on-site distribution centres. As usual lorries are not used here, Hörmann’s loading bay technology was successfully adapted for these unique circumstances.

In addition to the products on display, visitors can also find out more about Hörmann’s flexible, multi-brand service packages. The service department now offers maintenance and repair on any industrial door as well as a 24-hour call-out service to keep downtime to the absolute minimum. Expert training can even be provided so that in-house engineers are able to undertake basic maintenance, thereby reducing costly call-outs.
