THE PROPOSAL on approx. 100-acres of land close to Junction 3 of the M65 corridor envisages some 1.3 million ft2 of space in two buildings.

The land is currently agricultural and sits in the Green Belt but its location along the M65 corridor has been identified  through the emerging Central Lancashire Local Plan as an opportunity to meet its future employment land needs.

FI Real Estate Management lodged an EIA scoping report on the site n September 2022 which was  accepted by the council. It is now believed that it has lodged a formal planning application which alongside the warehouse space will include offices and support facilities for staff, car parking and servicing.

FIREM founder and managing director Tim Knowles, said: "There are currently no commercial spaces available at this scale in the region. This development will attract the next generation of businesses to this well-connected part of Chorley and deliver jobs for the local economy.”

It is believed that the scheme situated next to J3 of the M65, will generate 1,300 high quality jobs and contribute nearly £400m of economic value to the local economy.

FIREM is well underway on building nearly 1m sq ft of space at Botany Bay Business Park, also in the Chorley area and near J8 of the M61 motorway.
