Engineering firm goes for reliable service from Windsor
When its existing materials handling contract came to an end, engineering firm ConMech turned to Windsor Material Handling and its local partnership approach for a competitive price combined with a reliable service.
When deciding on which trucks to recommend, Windsor demonstrated the cost savings associated with LPG models, together with the environmental benefits. Now, not only is the fleet more cost effect, it is also described as being clean, efficient, versatile and manoeuvrable.
“Fitting speed limiters to the trucks has reduced the amount of fuel used and also assists with improved health and safety on site,” says regional manager, Stuart Dawson. “There’s also the engine shut down system. When the operator leaves the truck, the engine will shut down automatically after 30 seconds, resulting in more fuel savings and protecting the engine from overheating.
“Finally, we recommended a bulk gas supplier. Instead of the operators having to change LPG bottles the trucks have refillable bottles, a very quick and efficient way of refuelling.”
Ten Doosan G30E-5 trucks are now in service, replacing equipment that was previously kept on the sidelines awaiting repair and servicing.
ConMech specialises in manufacturing ground engaging tools for earthmoving equipment. All blades are manufactured from boron or carbon steel, which is heat treated in furnaces which can take parts up to 6.3m long.
