Europa installs 600 kWp rooftop solar system at Dartford warehouse
Europa Worldwide Group has installed a 600 kWp rooftop solar system at its Dartford site, expected to generate 541,800 kWh a year and save about £80,000 in the first year at current electricity rates.

THE SYSTEM, installed with landlord Prologis, is Europa’s first rooftop solar installation. The £30 million Dartford site is its European road freight hub and home to its 3PL services, so daytime energy demand is high. More than 40% of the site’s consumption came from solar in the first month of operation.
The project is delivered through a 30-year power purchase agreement with Prologis, which removes the upfront capital expenditure. Prologis Essentials managed every stage from energy assessment to commissioning. The agreement runs alongside Europa’s lease and carries no dilapidation or exit charges if the company leaves before the solar term ends. It is Prologis’s 48th rooftop solar installation in the UK.
Europa says the complexity of lease arrangements and divided responsibilities between landlords and occupiers continues to slow wider adoption. “Our partnership with Prologis has enabled us to overcome those challenges, but the wider process needs to become much easier if rooftop solar is to reach its full potential across the logistics sector,” said Tom Jenkins, central services director at Europa Worldwide Group.
