New fleet for busy port
Port of Felixstowe is Britain’s biggest and busiest container port in the UK, and one of the largest in Europe. Privately owned and handling more than 3.7 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), the port welcomes approximately 3000 ships each year, including the largest container vessels afloat today.
Continued expansion at the port and new developments mean Felixstowe has reviewed its existing fleet, replacing old out-of-lease stock with a new range of Kalmar equipment.
The port liaised with Kalmar to obtain the most suitable replacement to meet its needs. Following initial discussions, Felixstowe ordered a range of Kalmar machines, which included a fleet of 12 empty container handlers, and 4 reach stacker trucks.
